In usual DS fashion, I enjoyed an easy read, three intertwining stories of couples and their different experience of infertility. Nothing at all challenging, but still lots of moments when I felt close to the characters, and cared about what happened to them.

Three couples living charmed lives in California marry on the same day. The couples are diffrent ages and backgrounds but all face the decision about having children. This will test their ties as partners and friends. They go through stormy times, tears, withdrawal, and bitterness. Their lives, goals and their feelings about family are on the line before coming to a happy ending. Many twists and surprises. I did not like this book as much as others she has written.

I actually skipped parts of this book. There were actually three stories involved and I was not reading Pilar and Brad's part. Lol. I did enjoy the every-now-and-then twisty moments in the novel though. And Danielle Steel really proves to be an author who can produce such heart-warming stories. It's a lovely tale that lets you believe that blessings are everywhere if we just stop and try to take a look at them.

I Love this story...I've read this book many times. It reminds me of my own infertility troubles and those of others. Reading it this time, I was touched by Charlies story of growing up in an orphanage and finally aging out and not being adopted because of his asthma. I've often thought of adoption and maybe one day that is a road we will travel.

Nice book, Danielle expressed the feeling of of the couple who are longing for the baby and the happiness when it arrives. She captured each moments of the couples around this title. It never looks like story..its all collection of real incidents in most of the life

Logo no início senti-me muito desiludida.

This book seriously depressed me...Three different couples, three different types of lifestyles and ages, three different ways to feel about the couples..I felt a lot of rage toward Diana and how she treated Andy when all he was trying to do was help. I cried for poor Charlie because of that witch Barb he married. I felt so heartbroken for Pilar and Brad because of her decided so late in her life to have a child and then the heartbreak after...but I enjoyed the story a lot.

The book revolves around the life and problems of 3 married couples. They're all consumed by the same situation in life, becoming parents. It explains the agony of not being able conceive and the devastating feeling of miscarriage and losing a child, perfectly. On the other hand, it also talks about the joy of being a parent and how much having a baby means to a family. It started well and stood its ground for more than half way through the book, however, towards the end it turned too far fetched and unrealistic. I'd give it 3 stars for the first 80% of the book was nice.

What I call a "comfort read," this was a book in which the characters go through various issues and resolutions before meeting the end they all deserve. Steel covered some difficult topics in this novel, yet made them relatable. I was a little disappointed in the editing, but other than that, it was a good book.

This book is about three different couple who are at different stages in their life that face fertility problems. Diana and her husband are a newly married young couple that want to start a family right away. Months go by without any success o Diana goe to a fertility clinic and testing shows why she can't have children. It puts a heavy toll on their new marriage. Diana's sisters and fiends and workers are all having babies and that adds more stress to her already stressfull situation. Her husband and her come to an understanding and things are looking better when everything changes again and again and again. Just when you think this couple can't possibly handle anymore they are blessed with a surprise of there own that nobody saw coming. The second couple are also a young newly married couple. The man desperately wants to have kids but his wife doesn't want any. She wants to become a model or an actress so he doesn't want to be tied down with kids. She drinks a lot and becomes careless with her birth control and that gives her husband hope that she might become accidentally pregnant. But after time that doesn't happen so he goes to a fertility clinic for tests. The results are not what he was hoping for. He plans on telling his wife that he went to a clinic and what the results were when she tells him a surprise of her own.The third couple is an older man in his 60's and his wife is in her mid 40's. she never wanted to get married and have kids but after seeing all her friends enjoying married life and children she changed her mind. They tried many times to conceive but with no success. So she goes to the fertility clinic where they impregnate her with a turkey baster. But that only brings heartache. So they try again and are pleasantly surprised. The things I didn't like about this story is when they have three stories in one. I get confused by reading two pages of one couple then they start on another couple. It took me till half way through the story before I was able to keep them all apart. I would rather they have 3 parts then to put them together. Other than that it was an enjoyable story.I liked that it had a mans perspective to fertility problems as well. You don't often hear what men's thoughts are on this subject or what they are feeling. Each story had some very challenging aspects to them but I was happy they all had good outcomes.

To date, I've only read four Danielle Steel novels: Star, Accident, Heartbeat, and this, the novel under review, Mixed Blessings. Now I'll be frank. I'm not a huge fan of Ms. Steel's fiction, as I just seem to bore so easily with her casual-paced plot lines. But I do find some—I said some—enjoyment in her novels. Take Mixed Blessings. It wasn't incredibly slow, but it had not been incredibly fast-paced either. The California-set plot revolves around three couples, who incidentally are all married on the same day, but not one of the three newlywed wives is able to conceive. That's right, the three women are all barren. These three couples, on the other hand, have never met one another. But the author (Steel) develops their progress, in sequence, over the novel's course. The writing is very good, and the story, passable. Charlie Winwood was my favorite of all the characters, simply because I was empathetic towards his aim—though his wife Barb had not been. I really admired Charlie's tenacity throughout it all. And in truth, it was a pretty good read—even to a discriminating, fast-paced suspense and action-loving reader such as myself. Fans of Danielle Steel, or anyone with an interst in contemporary romance for that matter, will most definitely love Mixed Blessings, but it was just not my style on a more explosive level.

Hohohoo.. have I told you lately that I love you?Wakakakak.. ngga dinks, maksud gua have I told you lately kalo di jamannya gua masih suka baca cerita2 romans duluu, Danielle Steel was one of my favourite author? :pAnd kalo ngga salah lagi sih nih buku udah pernah difilm-in dhe cuman rasanya sih judulnya beda ama judul buku and gua ngga inget juga judul filmnya apaan, hahaha :D*sungguh info yang ngga menolong, hihihi ^o^*

If you didn't see the 1990s TV movie version or want to read or read the print book, Mixed Blessings was about three families and their hope and prayers to start one. In this romance, we meet Diana Goode and Andrea Douglas, a newlywed couple who want to start a family right away. After a couple of devastating heartbreaks when it didn't happen, they wonder what would it take for them to have a baby. For Charlie Winwood, he wanted a happy home filled with children. But when he realized he was sterile, he didn't know how to tell his bride Barbie about their future. She had other ideas, when he had to rethink his deepest values and his marriage, when she wasn't the woman of his dreams. As for Pilar Graham, a prominent lawyer was happy with her ten-year relationship with Judge Brad Coleman, who was 17 years her senior, who was happy with things as it was. Brad had two grown children. She regretted now having a baby, and wondered if it was crazy to start now, when he was now becoming a grandfather. This was a wonderful book about family and what formed or shaped them.

Unless you want to take a peek at the over-dramatic lives of people who can't have children and shed tears for the miseries they put themselves through because of it, you don't find this one a great read. Nevertheless this book definitely carries the scent of a woman (author), which gives a touch of reality to the plot (as it's concerned more about them) and at the same time justifies choice of the story and all the tears, emotions and reconciliations in it. At no point you'll find the book fascinating but then again you don't get bored at any stage that's just enough to make you move through the pages. It's not completely bad though, the intricate details of the emotions are very well presented and I admit that I felt myself moved at certain times while reading it but getting to that stage of involvement really needed a bit more effort than usual from my side. As a final note, I say that this one is really not worth your choice if you have to choose between this one and something else but if you have it already it's definitely worth a read.

After reading two so-so Steel books, I wasn't particularly excited about picking up this one. Thankfully, I was surprised with this one and found myself really enjoying it. It had that page turning quality, where I needed to find out what happened next. The plot follows three couples that want to have a baby but are struggling. I found myself genuinely caring about these characters and was getting emotional when tragedy hit. The book, in true chick-lit style gave us a happy ending which I was pleased about. Two minor annoyances. I don't know much about the adoption system in America but I thought it was much harder to get a baby than this book made out. I'm pretty sure it takes a lot more than a phone call saying "We've found you a baby". The other annoyance is Steel using the same name twice in her book. Pilar's baby brother happens to be called Andrew, the same as a main character. This is just lazy on Steel's part. Recommended to chick-lit fans.

The first half of the book wasn't of much interest to me. At first, the story seemed ordinary, easy to find like many other movies, love stories. However, the twists which came in the last chapters of the book were really touching and inspiring to read. The fate of the characters was so unpredictable, joy and sadness, laughter and tears, happiness and agony, all are blended. So many changes, pains the couples went through, which made, in the end, life truly mixed blessings. This book would make a good choice for anyone who's iust started to read English books. Easy to understand, simple vocabulary with some beautiful-meaning words and useful grammar structures, the book provides moving, full-of-love stories to help you maintain interest and finish it after all.
