up in flames Reviews
I am conflicted here. For a firefighter who has peoples lives and property in his hands, Tim is at odds with himself. He's been with Nicky seven years, and Nicky's job is illegal. Nicky's past is extremely tragic, and Tim's present is sad. I guess I get that they love each other, but the relationship has always had a strain. I need more background to be able to understand the guys. Some people thought this is a huge love story, but it seems so dysfunctional in so many ways. I have trouble with the pairing. Firefighters don't make a "pittance." Firefighters are supposed to be a brotherhood, and have each others backs, but Tim doesn't get along with his co-workers.Am I in the minority? I guess so. You will have to try it for yourself.======================
This was a fast and good read. The story starts when the 2 main characters have already been together several years, so it is not your usual mm romance setting but still very intriguing. Those guys have some problems in their relationship and it was quite interesting to read about what was going on.We only get Tim`s POV, so I was not sure if their relationship would survive or where the story was heading. Honestly, not everything made sense and the end felt a little rushed, I would have liked at least a little more detail here. But overall this was a good read and it kept me wondering almost until the end. Even if this book did certainly not pass the reality check, I enjoyed reading it and would rate it 3.5 stars
This is book # 2, in the Eternal Flame series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding of the series, I recommend reading in order.Tim & Nicky have been together for a long time. So when things get odd, and turn the door to suspicious, he tries to give his man the benefit of the doubt. He has many people in his life who do not understand his relationship, and they all think he should walk away.Nicky tries hard to make Tim feel loved. If only Tim had known what he was planning. He would have been able to help him sooner. As the evidence piles up, can they stay strong against the strain? This series is definitely hot. My biggest complaint was that this story could have been longer. I felt a serious rush there at the end. The story is complete, and moves right along. I just felt like I wanted more. ***I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Wow, short and explosiveI'm not quite sure what I expected once I started this novella but it even made me well up.Tim is a fire fighter with medical school ambitions and Nicky has had the life from he'll up until their relationship. It's a very interesting story but it is filled with a deep sadness for all that Nicky has had to endure. Tim has been a sweet dependable, supportive partner but even he reached his limits. It's too short for me to give too much away but it does pack a punch and it's definitely worth reading.I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an interesting story just because of the differences between the two main characters...Tim is a dedicated firefighter who is a born caregiver. Nicky, his boyfriend, has so many issues stemming from a horrible childhood, that he has difficulty controlling impulses and has no self confidence. When their home explodes, so does their relationship. The only questions... is there anything to save?
Struggle and Fighting for what you need. This one had me confused almost from thew beginning. I didn't get this story. But was well written and characters were mature with a good mix of personalities. This one was just not for me.
I really thought that this would be a great second story. I could not connect with Nick or Tim. The story was too rushed and everything was settled to easily. Tim is door mat. The best thing was the dialogue. I received this as a free arc.
This is not the world's greatest love story. These guys love each other but it's dysfunctional. It's sweet in some ways but they are both asinine in others. But this review is not only to judge the characters, but the writing. Which was okay.
BittersweetA beautifully written book with the fairytale ending that everyone who has someone in his/her life who is trouble, but whom they love madly, prays for.
