A leader among his kind, owner of a nightclub that serves as a banquet of nubile flesh and hot blood, he is bored out of his mind. His heart hasn't stirred in over a century. Born to a line of vampire hunters, Will ventures out every day after dark to track down those creatures who have crossed the line from feeding to murder, and destroy them. All he wants is one night off to drink and dance and maybe get laid. Too bad it's not his lucky night. Or maybe it is? Not even witnessing Will stake one of his brethren is enough to quell the lust that Reese feels from his first glimpse of the gorgeous hunter. And though Will knows how dangerous it could be to take the sensual invitation in Reese's dark eyes, he can't resist. Why fight when they could fuck instead?...

4 HeartsI have history of loving the enemies to lovers’ trope and when you have vampires and hunters wanting to get it on, I am all in. I mean from Buffy and Angel (or my favorite Spike) I’ve loved the angst of wanting to fuck or fight and all the play that comes before, during and after. This was right up my dark alley leading to… well, wherever it is vamps are gonna hang out these days. “That’s all it ever took; a single heartbeat could change a life. End it. Begin it. Reese is a double century old vampire who is tired of the scene. After the first few or 8 decades the haze of all he can get as a vampire has worn off. Now he is part owner of the hippest new club in town, Sang, and all he wants to do is chill. But when he spots a blond boy in leather dancing as if it were sex on two legs, he lets himself feel the pull of lust and of his heart. Will, is a vampire hunter by night and while his friends don’t know about his nighttime activities, they know Will needs to unwind. When they find a way to get into Sang, he decides that a night of dancing and letting go is what he needs. As he begins relax, Will feels someone watching him as he dances, and meets the gaze of one hot man who makes his blood run hot. It could be a good thing the man watching him has a thing for blood, eh? This was fun, sexy and at times totally cheesy but the cheese was called on by the characters so it made it funny instead of cringe worthy. The way Will and Reese met was interesting and how they both decided they meant one another no harm other than the chance to fuck each other stupid was delightful. Yup, a vampire and a vampire hunter decide that the only thing long and hard that will be sunk into anyone will be… you know? *grins* “Ahh, hunter,” he murmured into the dark. “You are dangerous.” I like that we get both POV’s with this so we know how each man feels about sleeping with the enemy. It was sweet how Will gave in and how much Reese wanted more than just a chance to taste a hunter’s blood. There was no need for Reese to coerce Will into anything they did in bed or the elevator or behind the club; it was as natural as can be and while they did pause for a second to question what they were doing, pure lust and want won and I was so happy that it did. For me though, this was way too short and I sincerely hope the author is considering writing more about Reese and Will. The morning after note was enough to have me giddy, excited and hopeful.

4.5 StarsSexy and Exhilarating with an underlying edginess that keeps the reader on alert with anticipation.Fight or Fuck? What will they do?Reece—a 200-year-old vampire—is bored with his existence. He’s powerful and the co-owner of the hottest night club in the city. As of late, no one gets his heartbeat going. Until. . .he sees Will on the dance floor. Will and his friends hit the club for a night of fun. Will works a lot and hasn’t been out for a while but he is looking for someone specific. Will is a little mysterious, too.His friends don’t know the truth of why he’s armed—they assume he’s a bounty hunter—and he allows them to believe by not going into detail. He lives a dangerous life by tracking down creatures of the night, so you would think he would want to steer clear of them in his free time, but he’s drawn to them even more. He craves the dark and mysterious male. When these two come face to face—it is nerve wracking in the best of ways—a little fear. . .maybe of the unknown—but the sexual heat is skyrocketing and even though Will knows the danger the vampire possesses—he wants what he has to offer.A Single Heartbeat is a novella—just shy of fifty pages—but it is non-stop thrilling and sexy action from start to finish. Morgan Elektra sucked me in with her descriptive narrative and erotic content and I would LOVE to see more of Reese and Will. However, if we see no more of them, I thought the ending was absolutely perfect. It’s not often I can say that with such a short story. Highly recommended for an afternoon—or nighttime—of extreme reading pleasure.* I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author *

In the world of enemies to lovers, who better than a vampire and a vampire hunter? The give and take between two characters who want each other with as much intensity as they want to hate each other is a treat I can't refuse and this book nearly hit the spot. Nearly, because like any good treat, it's gone too soon and this short novella was like those single serve bag of chips-so good and over too fast. Reece is bored with himself—at 200 yo, it happens—and Will works too hard hunting down Reece's kind. When they lay eyes on each other, it's lust at first sight and the question becomes: with they fight or fuck? Personally, I think they made the right choice. Anything else would spoil the story. I will say that for a novella, I was satisfied with the ending, however I wouldn't say no to another installment of Will and Reece.

A Single Heartbeat is an enemies to lovers novella. Reese and Will are the MC's of this story. Reese is an ancient vampire who's very over the whole vampire thing. Currently, he's running a nightclub called Sang and just trudging through eternity. Will is a vampire hunter who decides to spend a night out with friends and just let loose. Of course it's to the nightclub Sang. Will and Reese have an insta-lust situation going on but, but how can that work, right?I found this novella to be fast paced and tons of fun. It's extremely sexy and Will and Reese embracing their sexual desires is the reason for that.I never mind novellas, going in I always know it's going to be on the short side. For this, I felt like there was so much more story left to tell. I hope this is just the beginning and that there will be more of these two in future books. It's really very entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot.

A Joyfully Jay review. 4 starsPrimarily this is an erotic short that hits its mark for a sensual read. Will is a vampire hunter looking for a night out and a night off. He’s getting into the groove and attracting attention, yet being a hunter out on the town there really is no such thing as a night off. While Will has speed, strength, and healing powers, we don’t learn anything more about him or his history as a hunter. Reese is a seasoned vampire. He has been around for centuries and owns the hottest club in town. But after years of trying anything and everything, he is now left wanting for a new challenge and something to interest him. We don’t learn much else about Reese or the vampire world either. There is a focus on Reese’s heart, as the title suggests, but it’s not fully explored and the lack of details and lack of world building was a major hurdle to overcome. What we do get is the heat and chemistry between Will and Reese as Will is drawn to the darkness in Reese. It’s an extended scene of the vampire meeting all of the hunter and the dialogue between the men and overall tone for the story succeeded in bringing out the attraction and lust between the men as they spend the night together. It’s one night and one scene and from that angle the author kept me engaged throughout the entire story. While this has nothing to do with what’s inside, the cover on this one does not depict either of the men as described and doesn’t do justice to the story, so that aspect would be best overlooked. The guys truly connect and the author leaves the characters with potential for more as A Single Heartbeat is a short, erotically charged read set between men who should be adversaries.Read Michelle's review in its entirety here.

This short story was a good quick read. Who said natural born enemies cannot burn up the sheets with some hot sweaty sex.Well in this book that is exactly what happens. Reese is a vampire and has been for quite a while and the whole feeding frenzy just does not hold the appeal that it used to hold to him but some things have to be done just to survive. Will is a vampire hunter but he learned a long time ago that just because they are a vampire it does not mean that they are bad. So when he meets Reese and the attraction between them is immense he decides to go for it. Reese may be a vampire but he can tell that his only intentions is to have amazing sex and feed from him but not harm him and Eill wants this for the first time ever. These two men may be born enemies but I do not believe they read the memo. They burn up the sheets in this book so much so that I thought my kindle may just explode. The only thing I could say negatively about this book is that I wish it was longer because this was a really good story and I bet it could be an amazing novel. The chemistry between these two isnoff the charts.I really enjoyed this read, it was a great short story. Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review

Read this in one sitting. The writing is smoldering hot. I really enjoyed the back and forth between Reese and Will. I would love to read this as a series. Everything that I have read by this author is always well done and left me wishing for more. I hope to continue to find these wonderful stories by her. Yet another that I'm going to read more than once.
