begin anew the new day 1 Reviews
This was a fun and surprisingly different read! The story wasn't at all what I expected it to be, and the characters felt like actual people we got to know little by little as the story progressed. While I wasn't moved to tears nor did I bust my ribs laughing (my personal requirements for a five star rating), this book thoroughly entertained me, surprised me constantly with its plot twists, was easy and enjoyable to read, and even made me think about life a certain moments. Plus, I identified with Renee, a secondary character, which is rare. Usually only the main characters are developed enough to do so. Overall, this was a great read and one that I would definitely recommend!
Earth has been conquered by aliens and all of humanity's colonies are destroyed. The only remnants is a small science facility buried deep under the surface of earth and a fleet hiding in the stars waiting to come back. The story follows the tale of genetically engineered half-human, half-alien children as they slowly come to realize their powers. The book is a good read - well written and action packed. It would have been nice to set it up for a trilogy, but it stood alone very well.*I got this book through GoodRead's Giveaways - an excellent source of interesting books!
I would like to thank Richard Brant for my free e-book "Begin Anew" in exchange for an honest review. Wow, this book starts with a crazy space battle. There's only few options for the human race. Let's hope they make the right one......years later Cassiopeia is hunting she's the last one of the group to make it back to shelter. Cassiopeia, Caesar and the other children look like adults and are stronger than humans. They have mixed DNA human and that of their enemy. They have been taught that they're humanity's last hope. They're "father" is a geneticist assigned to make them. "Mother" is an artificially intelligent computer. Upon the last fleet returning to earth, the children seek a way to avoid war. The losses would be to great for the humans or aliens. This book is full of action, adventure, suspense and drama. The lesson these children teach everyone is a lesson we could all use today. War is not always the answer. This is a great book and I definitely recommend it as a great read.
Well written, easy to read and gripping story. The pace was good, characters well portrayed and developed. Some spelling mistakes or words that had not been removed during the editing and revision process, but that had no negative impact on the overall book. Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi.
