Eighteen year old Jamie has been on the run for four years, moving from one foster home to another trying to avoid being found by Sirus; the murderer of her family and entire pack, but he always seems to be just one step behind her, getting closer and closer leaving her unable to feel safe. There is a turf war starting and Jaime's bloodline is sought after, as the time gets nearer to her first `wolf moon' (coming of age) Jaime senses that Sirus isn't the only wolf on her trail. Danger is all around her and Jaime knows now it's more important than ever that she gets her revenge and kills him before he does as he threatened and takes her as his `lifemate' to ensure his Alpha status over her old territory.I loved the fact that Jaime wasn't at any point a push over, she didn't swoon at Sirus' feet in an unnatural sudden turn from hate to love and just because `he' wanted her it didn't change the fact that; as her wolf instincts dictated, she would only end up mating with the strongest Alpha, the one who proved himself, the one who managed to catch her....even if that ended up being one of the others in the chase. This is the second book in the Wolves of Black River series. Both books have ended and we haven't been left with a cliff hanger in either, although characters from `Mark of the wolf' are in this book, they are both separate stories. This is the type of series I enjoy (I hate cliff hangers with a passion!)Blood of the wolf is fast paced and full of action with plenty of passion and lust. The lack of romance between our two main characters gave a realistic feel to their relationship and it was an interesting change to the norm for a `love' story.T.L Shreffler definitely has a writing style that I love to read and the ability to draw me into her world with an ease that I don't find often. Her descriptions of fight scenes had me holding my breath with tension and able to visualise every bite and every drop of blood spilt. She managed to find the balance that so many other writers don't achieve in their work, scenes were neither over written nor understated and I enjoyed every page. I was eager to reach the end to learn the outcome but at the same time I was sad for the story to be over.I am really looking forward to reading more work by this very talented new author.

The general story was okay, not TOO horrible but nowhere near being interesting enough to want to finish the whole book. I did because I had nothing else to read, literally. This author needs to find a better editor to fix all of the mistakes she made, and boy were there plenty. Can you imagine an author that confuses the names of her characters? No? Well this one does. Not to mention spelling errors, missing words in a sentence and mixing up he, she, and I. For any of you wanting to read a book that makes you want to smash your head against the wall, this is the book for you!

There is nothing romantic about this book. SPOILERS:The heroine spent the last four years of her life hating the hero because she thought that he had annihilated her entire family. (and when that happened he kissed her when she was terrified of him and she was just 14 years old marking her as his-beause you know that's ok to do to a 14 year old) and then when he finally does catch up to her, he doesn't listen to her. dismisses/ignores her claims of mass murder as not true and she'll eventually learn the truth. And then when he chains her up to him so she can't run from this homicidal psychopath- he gets her drunk (to stitch up her wounds, which would have been understandable if what happens next didn't happen). He KNOWS she's drunk and even points it out to her. She clearly still hates him and even tells him to stop but he continues to ignore her and then "pleasures" her. She said no. NO means NO. doesn't matter what "her body" is telling you. She's drunk. Does NOT make that ok. oh I'm not done. THEN he keeps her chained to him (how people in public think this is alright is beyond me) and when she, still terrified of him, pulls his gun on him, he gets mad at her?? Well sorry I was just trying to defend myself against the man who murdered my family and pack. (if he saw anyone else doing that to her, he'd fly into a rage. but it's ok because she's "his") So when she finally does find out that he wasn't the one that murdered her family, he's shocked to find her a bit lost and still having four years of hate hanging around her. and then takes her in the yard after she tells him again that she doesn't want him (oh not penetration with his penis but his hands so that's ok). [Plus everyone around them can see she is scared of him and hates him but since they're "lifemates" his psychopathic tendencies -authors words not mine- towards her will just have to worked through] This entire book is her not wanting him and him determined to make her his just because she can legitimize his claim to her family's territory and then at the end maybe i should throw in an I love you just to make sure that people who are reading are good with everything that happened.I. Just. Can't.

This book was better than the first book in my opinion and regardless what Goodreads says THIS IS THE SECOND BOOK NOT THE FIRST! Also, I think the simple fact that both main characters were werewolves made certain aspects more acceptable. I understood the way they worked better because Jaime knew what to expect from Sirus. Whereas Maddy had no clue what or why Gareth did the things he did.I liked the story line and I really liked Sirus. I just wish there would have been a little more of an emotional attachment between these two. Sirus says he loves her at the end, but I just didn't feel it. Jaime only said she liked him at the end. I can understand that she needed time for her feelings to develop for him. I just wish there was more emotion involved. They were lifemates and that seems to mean that their wolves are calling to each other, but that doesn't mean they like each other. In the beginning that was the way it was for Jaime. She hated him even though her body wanted him. So I think this could have been one of my favorite books, except that it lacked the emotion that always sucks me in and makes me love a book.I LOVED the cover of this book. The cover is what attracted me to the book.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FAVORITE QUOTEAfter everything I just said, my favorite quote just happens to be one of the few times Sirus opens up and DOES show Jaime his feelings. So naturally it is my favorite quote."[...] Do you think all this time I've been wanting you to hate me?" He shook her slightly. "I am not your enemy! Oh trust me, I am no angel, sweetheart... I'm no godd*** hero, but i am a wolf and I know what it means to survive. This is what I've become. I won't change - I can't - I'm rough and brutal, just like the world we live in, just like I have to be." He paused, his lips touching her ear. "I'm not perfect, Jaime... but I need you. I'm laying myself out for you - I have been, every day. Would you have me?"~Syrus

Reviewed by [email protected] Stars ReviewsBlood Of The Wolf starts with Jaime losing everything she's ever known at such a young age. Now she's trying to run from the man she believes killed her family. Sirus knows Jamie is his lifemate, and he is doing everything he can to catch her, and mate with her before it's too late. I really enjoyed this book. It has a good story line, and awesome characters. I really didn't like the whole wolf moon thing though. I didn't like the fact that Jamie wouldn't care who she mated with as long as she mated, even though it all turned out right in the end, it still bugged me at times. Because it almost seemed like the lifemate part didn't exist when a wolf was having her moon phase. I loved how Jamie was strong enough to overcome her fear, and continue fighting everything that got in her way of her main goal. She is such a young women to have to go through all of the things she went through especially alone. It was kind of sad, but you wouldn't know it by being around her. And Sirus is equally messed up, but he shows it in a different way, mainly by being "cold." I did like Sirus though, he is an awesome alpha male who would do anything for his lifemate, even though he doesn't yet know how to show his feelings to her. I also enjoyed getting to see the character's from the first book again. :) I do recommend this book, and this series. I can not wait to read more.

*cough* *cough**cough* ..... some spoilers....If you like me read the first two books of the cats eye chronicles and thought "hey I want to read more of this author's books, must be similar I'll buy the 2 books in the wolves of black river series and I'm sure I'll enjoy them." Well make sure you read this review first!Let me make this clear these books are very very adult and explicit. I was NOT expecting that what so ever! This book has a tad less exploiters than the previous on and the guy is younger. But there are still parts that are too much aka when Jamie goes to th other big bad wolf.Because I had already bought the two books outright before I realised this well.... I have issues.... I need to read what I have. I can't stop half way. So the plot was quite good I just didn't like the course language or any of the other stuff.... it's my own opinion I'm not having a go at the author or anything as I like her other works I just thought at times some of the topics were a bit too dark for me.

Jamie has lost everything, her family, her home and her pack. She is left running from Sirus, the wolf who murdered the ones she loved. She has had to learn to be a fighter so that she will never have to submit to the man who claims to be her lifemate. The author does a great job in creating a solid story of wolves, fated love, and deception. The characters are well developed and play off of each other well. I could not put this book down. Between the story and the light you on fire sex scenes, this book had it all. I would make one complaint though. There were two sections of the book where the author mistakenly was calling Maddie Jamie and this just led to confusion and having to re-read a few pages to get back on track. 4.5 fangs!

I absolutely love this author, her books NEVER fail to give me a long needed adventure! Of course, this series is a lot more satisfying in the romance department... ^_~ I love Sirus, he's the embodiment of the sexy bad boy werewolf you've been looking for! And this story isn't just focused on the romance, it's got a pretty awesome story line too! HadMe biting my nails the whole time!!! I really want to read the last one now!!!

Truthfully - not the best Werewolf fiction I have read. But I liked the interaction between the lead characters and the raw emotions that Jaime experiences is well written. I wanted more background on Sirius though, he still was quite a mystery and in my meager opinion, not fully developed as a character. (demanding aren't I?)

This read was very similar to its predecessor. It seemed like a similar storyline only with a few different twists. I liked the book, and again there was a lot of sexual situations for a high school girl. They tied in the characters from the first book and I enjoyed that. Overall, it was a great read if you really liked the first book in the series.

2.5 stars. An average, done-before story scattered with elements that could have made it truly good. Some lines were really interesting and reminiscent of other authors that I enjoy but a lot of it was just run-of-the-mill.

Meh.... elements of goodness but disjointed plot. Idea sounded good but didn't follow through. seems like a story that needed more work on it, like a believable progression of relationship or motivations and maybe a freaking thought in the heroines head she seemed like a moron half the time :(

I love the way that Ms. Shreffler thinks. She has created a world where the characters are real and love is messy. I believe this author has a lot to offer, and I look forward to reading her upcoming novels...I'm giving this one: 3 & 1/2 stars

I absolutely love this book!! To be honest I was so crazy about wanting to read it so bad that I had to buy it as soon as possible. The wait was excruciatingly long but I made it and I finished reading it within a day. I'm glad I was able to read such a book like this that has made me very happy.
